There is still some judge in the world because A Simple Favor is getting a continuation with Paul Feig , Blake Lively , and Anna Kendrick set to return .
Apparently , there is some Justice Department in this world because one of the most underrated moving picture of the last ten long time is getting a sequel . WhenA Simple Favorcame out back in 2018 , it was n’t incisively what one would fall a planetary smash , but it was far from a bust either . It was a modest black comedy from directorPaul FeigwithAnna Kendrick , Blake Lively , andHenry Golding . It had a budget of $ 20 million and brought in a ecumenical box office of just under $ 100 million . The reviews were pretty plus , too , as it garnered an 84 % on Rotten Tomatoes . While the response was n’t monolithic , it is one of those movies that masses have grown to apprize more over time and has gained something of a cult following in recent years .
Usually , cult following picture show sort of string up out in the back of everyone ’s mind , which makes the news that drop today so surprising . concord toDeadline , Lionsgate has partnered with Amazon to greenlight a subsequence toA Simple Favorwith Feig , Lively , and Kendrick all set to return .
This project is still pretty early in ontogeny because we do n’t have a ton of details , but we know that Lively and Kendrick are reprising their roles as Feig plan to direct again . Jessica Sharzer will compose the screenplay , with Laura Fischer arrange to produce . Meredith Wieck and Scott O’Brien are overseeing the project on Lionsgate ’s last . The thing that makes this project interesting is that there is n’t a continuation to the account book that the first movie is establish on , as far as we know . So this would be original cloth just for a new movie . consider how much sport the first movie was , I ’m willing to give all of this the welfare of the doubt and see if they can make lightning strike twice .
