During the late edition of HBO ’s Real Time , Bill Maher yelled at the latest " cloud in the sky " that ’s annoying him - NFL game on cyclosis .
There are minute during HBO’sReal clock time with Bill MaherwhenBill Mahersounds like the proverbial " old man on his front porch cry at clouds . " And then there are second like this preceding Friday night – when Maherreallysounded like the proverbial " old military personnel on his front porch yelling at clouds . " The " cloud " in question ? The NFL and how " cyclosis is ruining football game . " Since it was so important to merit its own " New Rule " segment , we thought we would take a look at what Maher had to provide – with a little comment ( we ’re going to look past those hackey jokes that were urgently attempt a rimshot ) .
Maher : " love the Super Bowl this weekend while you’re able to because it ’s believably one of the last ones to be show on broadcast idiot box , which is a pity because streaming is deflower football , and that ’s Taylor Swift ’s job . "
COMMENT : Back in December 2024,Varietyreleased its Nielsen - plunk for " The 100 Most - Watched Telecasts of 2024 , " which found the NFL have 45 of those top 100 dapple – and we ’re blab out out of all telecast between January 1 , 2024 , and December 1 , 2024 . With those kinds of number , NFL will be sticking with broadcast meshing as long as there are propagate internet .
Maher : " What ’s so bad about pour football game , you ask ? gossip : With all due respect , this comes down to what your set - up is . in person , we ’re only a couple of button clicks forth from switching between Netflix , Prime Video , NFL RedZone , and the program networks – and let ’s be existent . If you ’re biggest complaint is you have to advertize a few spear carrier buttons while you keep your bum parked on your taking into custody – get some perspective .
Maher : " No ! Plenty of commercials , except , unlike one-time TV where I may have DVR’d the plot to watch later after it ’s over and I could zip through the commercials , streaming deliberately makes it so you ca n’t do that . remark : While I can observe that linear perspective , it ’s hard to take the complaint seriously from someone who does n’t seem to complain when the same company that ratify his deterrent stop up raising Max rates . I do n’t like seeing pop - up ads in the corner of an episode ofAmerican Dadon TBS for Maher ’s show , but that ’s just how it proceed . In the final stage , it ’s all about hold money .
Maher : " Well , is n’t it great that things are secure than the old days when we had to sit through commercial message and watch shows flop when they send ? Yeah , so much better . And unless you conceive this is only a baby boomer bitching ? No , I checked Reddit . Kids of all ages detest this shit . "
COMMENT : We ’re about the same age as Bill , so we can safely say that jolly much everything about Television – let in streaming – is in force now than when we were younger . Sorry . believe this an intervention . But we do agree with you that you ’re a " boomer bitching " – especially when you have to recur to using social media as your " proof " that folks do n’t like something . IT ‘S SOCIAL MEDIA , BILL ! No one likes anything on social medium – not even themselves .
