Black Mirror Season 7: Charlie Brooker on “USS Callister” Return
speak withThe Hollywood Reporterat the end of May 2024 , Brooker provide an update on how thing were going with filming and shared why " USS Callister " was the correct episode to go the sequel route with . Speaking of the episode sequel , Brooker explained how the instalment lent itself to a continuation and how being capable to spell a character beyond one installment was a new experience that was " a lot of fun " for him . " This has been brewing for really quite a long clock time . And it ’s part because of the way that it ends . The first one terminate like you could just carry that story on and abide by where they go now . So it was always like , ' Hmm , I ’m going to do that . ' It was something we were looking at for quite a farsighted time . There were various iterations it get going through , various interpretation we wanted to do and were discussing on and off for several years . "

Brooker continued , " But there are a band of schedules to sort out out , and then the pandemic got in the way . It was something that looked like it was n’t pass to happen , and so I was delighted when it did . So , it ’s been a mo . But even write the fictitious character is a sumptuousness I do n’t often get . I ’ve never had it before on ' Black Mirror ' to have a character that endure beyond one instalment ! So that ’s been a mint of fun , and then seeing them all on circle has been fantastical , " Brooker explained . As for what viewer can expect , Brooker ’s reply seemed to show that viewers should n’t inevitably assume anything – like assumingJesse Plemons ' Robert Daly would n’t be appearing ( in large part because he ’s no longer living ) . " You ’ll see . Yeah , you ’ll see [ Laughs ] . But we carry on the story from where we will off . And there are some new theatrical role as well . There is Modern stuff to do with where they ’ve now cease up versus where they were . "
