The Sony presentation kicked off CinemaCon 2021 with some first - face footage of Uncharted , Bullet Train , and sort Ghostbusters : Afterlife .

CinemaCon 2021kicked off today with a demonstration from Sony Pictures . For those of you who join me for my live web log , give thanks you very much . We ’ll be liveblogging all of the presentations this week , so be sure to watch this space for more fun . For the Sony demonstration , we had an intimation that there might be a cover attached to this presentation . The first hint was the fact that they had popcorn and a feeding bottle of water waiting for us . In previous years , that unremarkably signify that we had some sort of recollective - figure screening . I was leaning more toward thirty minute of something , but we ’ll get to that in a mo .

We had a lot of intellection and talking about the preservation of the industry , which makes good sense . The vibe in the elbow room was interesting compared to previous long time , and Sony follow out swing as far as assuage house owners . There was a lot of theatrical exclusivity talk , as well as lecture about committing to the theatrical experience . It means that Universal and Warner Bros. are snuff it to be interesting , considering how many thing they put out on VOD . Then we catch a sizzle reel .

Those of you looking forResident Evilnews , they did not show or talk about that at all . There was moreVenom : allow There Be Carnagefootage , but it was all stuff we ’ve examine before . We got a logo forSpider - Man : Into the Spider - Verse 2,which seems to be the title right now . Then we got some novel stuff . We got a look atUncharted , a motion-picture show that has been in development for about half a lifetime . It was a little difficult to evidence what the vibe of the moving picture is pop off to be . We see Nathan fall out of the aeroplane and some quipping . The logo looks pretty good , but there was n’t much about the news report . We heard Sully say , " I ’m offering you the chance to key out thing you ’ve only read about . " It ’s far too early to make a call about this one .

Another expectant motion-picture show that Sony show off new footage for isMorbius . While that first trailer that descend out a class ago really focused on the lead - up to Morbius becoming the Living Vampire , this raw footage focused a mass more on the behemoth himself . We see the goliath version of Morbius and full - on shots of the lamia ’s human face . We see him fighting with some smoke meter elements . aboveboard , the footage looked a slight goofy , but not in a sorry way . It ’s still unclear what kind of tone this is going to set . We got some footage fromDenzel Washington’snew movieA Journal for Jordanand some footage from the adaptation ofWhere the Crawdads Sing , which is a New York Times bestseller .

The most surprising footage , for me , was the first feeling atBullet Train . This is a new flick byDavid Leitch , and we mostly saw footage ofBrad Pitt — frame on quite the performance of someone who just does not give a shit — andBad Bunnyjust beating the crap out of each other . It was a circumstances of fun , and the timbre was really something that could be one of the breakout picture show of 2022 . This is one that just shot to the top of my best " most anticipated " leaning of 2022 .

They made some cranny about the leak and gave us the world premiere of theSpider - Man : No Way Hometrailer , which they dropped either as we were watching at the convention or in good order after . Then it seemed like Sony was moving on with the presentation withIvan and Jason Reitmancoming out to talkGhostbusters : Afterlife . If you were following our live blog , we kind of got taken by surprisal by the announcement that they were sieve the entire movie . At the end of the film , we fuck off notice that we could post reactions on social medium .
