The eve of the New Year is upon us and it ’s always time for a retrospective and refocusing critical review of lifespan , body of work and family line . But , As many of you know I ’ve been doing this for several of the last two years . And with this the raw decennary provides many opportunities to do this even better .
For nearly 15 years I ’ve sold comics . It ’s the foresighted I ’ve ever done anything in my professional career . I ’ve made no qualms that the biggest hurdle , in my opinion , for retail merchant of comics , game and toys to succeed in the future , is the biggest part of most of our business example , Diamond comics inefficiency .
I see the biggest problems facing us is the safe transference of payable comic from the publisher to us , the want of reward for positive citation marking when we win and the rightfully decadent way they treat someone they call partners . Not to advert the troubling rehash from some newspaper publisher that is n’t exciting the customers and fan al-Qa’ida at way high monetary value per script . But I ’m only going to focus on the straw that break my back .
The diamond box , the nemesis of my cosmos and first matter at every retailer summit , for closely every retailer that speak to me about this for nearly a decade . For old age the phrase " we are mould on it " , " we ’ll discuss this with you later " and lately " we find a solution " has been the position quo from Diamond . Now , with the advent of the new " crush test copy " box most retailers are report the same , if not worse damages than before . This would be reason enough for most of my conclusion . But there are more .
By airt my money from seat in this industry for just two years I ’ve raised my credit score over 100 point which has finally allowed me to invest in my futurity and mob betterment . This is another matter diamond turn down to discuss .
And lastly , the tyrannical direction Diamond handle its " customers " . To no end , I complain that Diamond does not treat us fairly , if you make wave , they publicly show the residual of the diligence what they ’ll do to fuss maker . I ’m the pure example . Now , I ’m literally just going to take the air forth from this .
Why ? Because it does n’t gain me or my customers anymore to pay into a system that does triiodothyronine esteem me or it ’s other customers . I consider myself a bloody skilful judge of what proceed to be hot and what ’s not . When I do get a " hot one " , Diamond ordinarily finds 1 of 3 ways to know it up on a regular foundation . Now there are hoi polloi at Diamond that are swell , I would n’t still be here if it were n’t for the smartest job solver they have N.R. , but paradise forbid those incompetent fools ever put her in a placement where she can ready the problems they all know exist .
And one last affair . I ’ve been told over the days , Diamond ’s here to help the retail merchant ( make money for Diamond ) . At the same time I ’m told of horror stories of how diamond will dog you to the terminal of the earth after you go out of business for what ’s owed to them , go after your home , future occupation lucre etc . But I ground it unmatched that when I made this decision there was n’t one simple means to do it , not an well-to-do way to resign ball field . Either by design or the half-witted intellection , " why would someone want to bequeath Diamond ? ? ? " There should be an comfortable way . A simple push to push to end thing amicably . But there is n’t . How to stop the $ 4 hebdomadal fee for Tuesday delivery for secret shopper I have n’t see in two yr , the monthly comical workshop locator service fee , the annual comic suite fee , the monthly free preview that would get shipped in a ups box by itself if you did n’t cancel it , etc . I still design on casual orders just not weekly fresh books . I bump that most wry in this whole saga there ’s just not a way to do this .
So in conclusion , what will I do ? I will focus my efforts on my highly profitable and successful Amazon River store , the easily simplest fashion to get comics to customer around the world , instead now I ’ll be sell all old comics . I ’ll still do variants from publisher I love , once in a while for new ledger , but only when it prompt me . And in conclusion I ’m going to spend a draw more meter with my kids and crime syndicate . I do n’t think customers really know how much their retailer neglect at place while dealing with Diamond BS weekly . hour to go over Previews , hours FOC’ing hours inspecting weekly order , catalog damages and deficit , damage replacement , replacements for the substitute etc . it ’s mind numbing what I ’ve missed in my small fry life because Diamond ca n’t deliver 1000 funnies every week , detached of redress , in a loge they know ups will damage …
And for that I offer Diamond ’s hebdomadary comics adieu , for now . Along with loyal customer I ’ve know for 15 years , newspaper publisher friends and friend and brother and sis retailers that I ’ll urge to find a way to become Diamond independent in 2020 .
