London Book Fair is big . Really big . I mean , you may think it ’s a farseeing way down the road to the apothecary ’s , but that ’s just peanuts to the London Book Fair . Listen …
So comic books could get lost within its huge gob . But they still manage to stick out . Here ’s a few I discover yesterday lunchtime , concur at the rather wonderful Earls Court Exhibition Centre , wandering around with children in tow . They were very good .
Diamond UK were set up , have lots of important looking coming together with important see people . They had a big comics - based booth and had all sorts of thing to attract the eye .
Okay , yes , there wereMy Little Ponypacks at Alice - height .
gratefully , the Joker Mask set forDeath Of The Jokerwas a little higher .
Self Made Hero are part of a new strain of British graphical novel publisher , emerge over the last few long time alongside Blank Slate and Nobrow , but they were here solo . And very happy about their UK licence for theBryan Lee O’MalleybookSecondsout this year …
Book distributor Turnaround have a great mirthful book catalog and they had plenty of publisher to bring with them . Marvel UK / Panini , Knockabout , Cinebook , Humanoids and further piece of work from Fantagraphics .
But you could witness comics in all sorts of places . Such as a single rule book on a stand from Soaring Penguin Press …
… that nevertheless had garnered considerable foreign rights attention , Pat Millsediting a raw warfare comics anthology . I visit the publishers also meeting with Diamond afterwards …
Seem a perfect catch .
But the French have plenty of star great power too , with mess of graphic novels from plenty of newspaper publisher , all congregating in one place . Such as these younger reader - draw a bead on cartoon strip .

Tintin does get everywhere …
Though of course there was plenty of variety on handwriting .
Also at the show was The British Library , promoting amongst other things , the book to accompany the upcoming Comics Unmasked expo .
I managed to get a sneak peek at some ofPaul Gravett ’s book , and it ’s a rather wonderful amalgamation of so many dissimilar aspects of comic strip , theme and patchworked together across the decades . With some major contribution byAl Davison , Dudley D WatkinsandDave McKean .
I also found Kodansha , showing off much – but mostlyAttack On Titan .
As you might ask , take its seven figure photographic print go for that championship .
But no trip to Earls Court can be complete without a visit on the way home to a certain standing repository outside the subway system station …
Well what variety of Dad would I be if I denied them that ?
