This week ’s episode ofDoctor Who , " Lucky Day , " is a medico - lite episode ( do n’t vex , he still shows up in flashback ) that features the return of Ruby Sunday ( Millie Gibson ) , who is trying to experience her biography back on Earth after traveling as the Doctor ’s fellow traveller . The BBC turn an interview with directorPeter Hoar , who offered some insights into what witness can expect :
What can audiences expect from this episode? The installment is quite a journeying from its unassuming beginning to a high - octane sci - fi thrill ride . We had many references for this episode from all kinds of cinema and TV , including Devil ’s goal from " The Daemons " toAliens .
This episode has lots of familiar faces , include the UNIT team . What was it like working with them?It was a joy ! They are all superb without question . Watching them front such an extreme foe as this , then work on as a team , being pushed to the edge , seeing their humanness screen to its limit point … I desire it will make a great installment . The mold worked so hard to land this to life and deserves Brobdingnagian congratulations . I especially like one guessing where the three charwoman of UNIT stand berm to articulatio humeri .
This instalment take care the return of Ruby Sunday ( Millie Gibson ) , and Jonah Hauer - King joins the mould as Conrad . What can you badger about the dynamic between the pair?Jonah and Millie were a dandy duo . Jonah fit so swimmingly into the family , and it was exciting to see a Modern , fresh dynamic emerge . Ruby want a raw bomber , and Conrad thinks he ’s all that , but we break quick that it ’s Ruby who ’s good in a dangerous situation …
This episode takes us back to the UNIT Tower . What is it like being on that set?It ’s a huge position with a lot of optical promise . It head me to make a new slant for the end sequence that we had a lot of playfulness shooting . We cast off everything at them . Literally
There is a terrifying giant in this episode . What was it like bringing it to life on camera?Would it beDoctor Whowithout a monster ? This one is really scary . And we leant right into it – one aspect in particular , we perish full gothic horror .
How would you sum up this episode?Scary , surprising and romantic .
