Last workweek , Bleeding Cool ran an clause on the concluding issue ofMockingbird , way out 8.It had been a fine serial from Marvel , doing all sort of interesting thing with narrative and contour , and for its final issue , we noted how it directly dealt with an issue of the character ’s persistence that some had found elusive . I though that , for certain fanboys , this might be a sticking gunpoint , and while it might be a hot subject for debate regarding the portrayal of violation in fabrication , and also from a survivor ’s decimal point of view . There seemed to be destiny to speak about , to discourse , to cogitate over . Hopefully in a civilised fashion .
What I did n’t expect was that the massive controversy would be over a good cover joke , and its writerChelsea Cain ’s ingathering for more amusing books star action women in the jumper lead .
I intend , seriously , if you are one of the Mens Rights Activist crowd then , decent here , you have a comic in which something antecedently describe as rapine , has now been rewritten as a human beings ’s version of event at betting odds with the reality , as it ’s its the only way he can make do with it , yet it still chair to the duo ’s divorcement . There has to be something to object to there , correct ?
But no it seems that this cover above , and this tweet , and what you condense on . Well , less to study I suppose .
Chelsea Cain has drop by the wayside societal media over the response she has get from this . And you could see such scandal onMarvel ’s Facebook page …
Or on Reddit boardssuch as radius / SocialJusticeInActionto the back and the controversy … .
Until you get someone who actually take the comic and realises , you know , that it might be a trick .
Oh and it also search like , as a upshot , there ’s a second of a boot on eBay for the great unwashed buy the comic , at cover price or below . Let ’s see what happens there …
So what am I say ? I dunno . There is plenty one could justifiably object toMockingbird#8 . But that ’s a good affair . The best fable has difficult ideas , place itself in one mode against another and make the reader think . fabrication that just mollifies , cuddles and confirm is utterly dull . If someone somewhere is not object to fiction in some variant , then I think it has failed .
But to object to it when you have n’t actually read it … particularly when reading it might guide you to a different conclusion … well .
As far as I can tell , it ’s just an excuse for mass to be bemock birds .
