After losing her guitar , which was passed down for generations through her parentage , she locomote to the grown city to get her guitar back and fulfill her destiny . If the film hunkered down and focused on O’Dessa ’s journey and less on the side missions these two get in , there is a germ of a good , mean story here .
But the pic does not do that . or else , it moves at a fast pace all over the fringe of the story . Many background characters just show up with no account and evaporate just as fast . Why are they here all of a sudden ? Who are they ? We never find out . There is the big villain ’s big buddy eye that poses a significant scourge and never gets ante up off . And for a picture whose message is that love and call can conquer anything , there is a portion of wildness instead . It would have been much well to spend more than the first five minute with O’Dessa and her female parent on their desolate farm and have a reason to root for her , but the film is not concerned . alternatively , it is obsess with stylization and flash . It was frustrative watching what could have been an epic rock opera house for a modern interview morph into aMad Max / Hunger Games / insert - dystopian - title dead ringer so fast .
That is not Sink ’s fault ; she is just as good as ever . She is ill-use into the Christ Within as a performing artist to determine , and herrecent castingin the next Spider - Man should give her that terminal step into house name status . Here , she execute with gusto and does her good as O’Dessa . Harrison stands out and matches Sink ’s muscularity perfectly . Ultimately , this is one of those quirky big golf shot motion-picture show that gets too wrapped up in its inventiveness to redeem on its hope successfully . Sink is worth watching for , but you will find yourself laughing a lot at thing that should n’t be funny , and by the end , it feel unearned . For a film that wants to pride itself on supposed originality , it is way too derivative to be consider anything other than a disappointment .
