RuPaul ’s Drag Race Season 17 Ep . 5 presented " RDR Live ! " a mid challenge that delivered forgettable sketches and an every bit sterile runway .
MTV’sRuPaul ’s Drag RaceSeason 17 is back , and this week , it ’s everyone ’s least favorite makeweight challenge , " RDR Live!“Regardless ifSNLis your jam or not , " RDR Live ! " is really just mediocre , but let ’s get down to it anyway because the ending is absolutely gag - worthy . The track of the week is " tickled pink " and would n’t you live it , a few of these runways were in reality beneficial . topnotch iconic and gaggy ? Eh , not exactly , but there was a good effort put up .
Top Queens of the hebdomad :
Onya Nurve – I do n’t agree with the judges ' praise of her rail ; I get the Super Bowl is coming up , but wearing a bodysuit made of pink football game lodgings ai n’t it , girl . Her performance hosting and in a sketch for " RDR Live ! " was estimable ; I ’ll give her that .
Suzie Toot – Another win for miss Suzie , and I am living for it . Her performance as Ru ’s Nanny on the " weekend update " segment of " RDR Live ! " was the only amusing part of the whole show , and her track was dead perfect . I ’m a gull for a good vintage goofball , but doing that in black and white pink in her 1920s style ? Perfection . No notes , 10/10 , she ate , house down boots .
Hormona Lisa – She has the audaciousness to bring us the same dusty sequin mermaid gown silhouette week after week and , on top of that , bring dead nothing new or dissimilar to the table . Ugh . You know I was rooting for her to go home week one , and have been salty she was saved ever since , but seriously , she is so unentertaining and her personality is toxic . Last hebdomad , she lied about her mom sewing her comforter look ( she bought it from a fashion designer and did not credit ) , and now she ’s claiming that the pinkish rail theme was her idea … Kandy Musecould never stargaze of being this arrogant . Can we be done with the anti - personality hires , please ? I suppose I have to name the jurist put her at the top this hebdomad for doing a character … who ’s a clueless peeress from the South . The only way she could have play more honest to herself is by playing the Wicked Witch .
Bottom Queens :
Sam Star – Sam and Hormona Lisa were in the same vignette , and both being potent Southern queens , Sam decided to challenge herself and not use her adorable emphasis , instead going for a more pretentious , New England advanced wireless emcee . She was kind of giving youngTerry Grosswhile also kind of doing anElizabeth Holmesvoice , and it honestly was n’t the defective . Now , the character as written was a " butch lesbian " in a sketch about a wireless show segment on beavers . Was that the pick the judges wanted to see ? Decidedly not . I do n’t think any queens onDrag Raceactually have sex what a dike lesbian is because every unmarried metre a " macho " fibre is written in aDrag Racechallenge , the queen whole neglect the mark . How hard is it to hold on aJustin Bieberwig , a few tattoos , and call everyone " babygirl " ? That ’s also not the flair of drag the fag mean the judges really ever want to see , and they could be right , but I digress . Sam wanted to branch out and show the judges that she could actually do something different as oppose to Whore … Mona Lisa doing the same accurate thing she always does and spoil her way to the top . Sigh . Her pink pony showgirl runway , though ? I live , but I hold out for most everything she wears .
Lydia " Butthole " Kollins – Honey , it was a misfire this calendar week . Her runways are uproarious and encampment in the unsporting , DIY way ( this calendar week , she total out dressed as a dick , complete with balls – and no , she was not a rooster ) , but her challenge was dismal . The writing of " RDR Live ! " is problematic since most of it falls flat , but it can be give way CPR and fetch back to life in some pillow slip – this part ( that she campaign Hormona for , Lord have it away why ) was not one of those cases . The bottom two was sadly deserve .
Arrietty – Girl , she made some CHOICES this week and they just did not ante up off . The good : her runway was sickening , a headland - to - toe red-hot pink vinyl look with chaps , a cape , and horns everywhere in an court to Satan herself . SLAY . The bad : her " RDR Live ! " carrying out . She snuff it full cavewoman and it was a big ol' swing … and unfortunately a miss , and bring down her in the bottom two .
Honorable Mentions :
Kori King’sbody was right , as always , and her cute petty time of origin Paris Hilton Sweet 16 pink mini dress was fabulous . Was it life - changing ? No , but it was cute and safe . Jewels Sparklesgave us an " Eliza Dolittle if she was an Italian pop star on Eurovision " exalt feeling that ate , no inquiry .
And now for the real gag of the episode : the sassing sync between Miss Butthole and Arrietty was ICONIC and vehement , and aboveboard good than the intact episode before it . I would look out that for an hour , happily . It was tough , but RuPaul ruled in Butthole ’s favour , sending Arrietty to the Badonka Dunk tank , where she plunk the right lever and dunkedMichelle Visage , intend she stays in the competition , and we ’re completely done with the weird rig production twist of the season !
It ’s about metre the twist is over , and we start knocking off queens because having this many modest - level queen around six episodes in is a little draining to catch . get ’s start post queens home and get to the real serious contender already . Next week is the Sea Ball , and I can not wait for more balls in my life .
