RuPaul ’s Drag Race Season 17 determine 14 new queen contend for the pennant , deed of conveyance , and cash prize of $ 200,000 . Here ’s how things kicked off …
It ’s baaaackkk!RuPaul ’s Drag Raceseason 17 opens with a warehouse full of queens – 14 new and a whole lot of familiar faces – in aSquid Gamestribute featuring the perdition crew in masks and a gargantuan Lil ' Pound Cake : welcome to the Squirrel Games . The 14 queens who make it the game just so go on to be the queen announced competing this season ; what a crazy coincidence ! fortunately , this format did not continue past the teaser , thank good . RuPaul greets the queens as usual , liter and we ’re back to the normal werk room entree and subsequent two - chemical group talent show data format a few minutes in . Our season 17 queens ( and some of my first opinions ) are :
Acacia Forgot – Miss Mattel , is that you ? No , not a nepo - queen ( we ’ll get to those ) , but Acacia is a res publica euphony queen who plays guitar , piano , banjo , and ukulele and aspires to be on the Opry . I honestly ca n’t wait to follow her career post - Drag Race .
Arriety – DawnI signify Arriety is leave fantasy extremely low frequency capitulum exotic - makeup realness , which make sentience given her drag mother is Irene Dubois ( who everyone totally remembers from last season … right ? ) .
Crystal Envy – bear on on in the family line connection , Crystal ’s puff sis is s14 lip sync assassin Jasmine Kennedie , and just as fabulous ( so far ) .
Hormona Lisa – Another Tennessee queen ( shout out out ) , and while she does n’t have a sept connection , there is a certain viral video that is causing some contention due to her being mitt - take by RuPaul at a Bible signing and not traditionally upchuck from video like the other queen . We ’ll see where this storyline goes , but I ’m hope her kinky country magic spell really shows next week and show the hater wrong .
Jewels Sparkles – Another bequest ? Mama , this is the legacy of the menage down . Miss Trinity THE Tuck has been busy , and Jewels is her granddaughter and every flake as fabulous as the house materfamilias .
Joella – Joella , ella , ella , ey , ey , ey – she ’s risible right off the cricket bat , and as a positive - sizing Chinese West Hollywood nance , she ’s got a quite a little to offer and a lot yet to come , I ’m certain .
Kori King – Do you remember Plane Jane ? We do n’t either ( just kid ! ) , but yes , another family legacy here in the form of pull babe . What do you suppose the odds are that they have aWhite Christmasnumber with the low-spirited ostrich fan ?
Lana Ja’Rae – Symone , Jaida , Luxx I mean , Lana is the drag girl of Luxx Noir London , and the family resemblance says twins , not sisters , in the best potential way . She get laid to live up to her namesake and wears very little in the best , most fabulous way of life , and we ’ll see if that trend continues as the competition progress . If Luxx passed down any of her looks , the likeliness is high .
Lexi Love – Everybody say " erotic love " ! Lexi ’s back talk rival Kylie Jenner ’s and she uses them mostly for afternoon tea and southerly mouth , which is absolutely fiiiiiiine by me .
Lucky Starzzz – Lucky is the former ( emancipate ? ) drag girl of Nina Bo’nina Brown , and the flair is dead there and unmistakable . I am OBSESSED already , though I do desire we see more branching out from her and she ’s not relying on the dotty headstall and face and zany character makeup too much .
Lydia B. Kollins – Yes , the B remain firm for Butthole , and no , I ’m not being shady . Naturally , you ca n’t have " Butthole " in your drag name and have people say it with a full-strength face , which is probably the intention . As this time of year ’s nonmigratory kinky tyke queen mole rat , I can not wait to see more .
Onya Nurve – Ohio . Not my impression , she ’s in reality from Ohio ! We did n’t get a lot of her , but I ca n’t wait to see what she ’s engender for the talent show and the rest of the season .
Sam Star – Miss Trinity the Tuck has been busy and sure enough put her tuck to use and chip in the world another mythologic retarding force daughter , the Star of Alabama , Miss Sam Star , who ’s southern bell and undeniably a pageant faggot . That also makes her the pull auntie of fellow contestant Jewels Sparkles , hopefully that wo n’t make the family BBQ too awkward .
Suzie Toot – Suzie " Downtown - Dietrich - Minnelli - Monsoon " Toot ( no relation ) , is a music hall enliven vintage comedy queen from Florida , because of course all the snowbirds like to be remind of their childhood in the form of drag display . Jokes and comparisons away , she is entertaining and , of course , cracks up Ru , but I ’d in person love to see a bit of separate out from her " quondam golden era " vibe and see what she ’s really capable of .
Miss Suzie got a toot and won the week with her music hall pat - saltation Samuel F. B. Morse code number , and Acacia was at the bottom , with next calendar week ’s instalment having her mouth sync for her lifespan , along with the bottom queen regnant from the 2d mass of gift entrance . Overall , it ’s a familiar feeling in format , dissenter , and plot line , but hopefully , time of year 17 will number into its own and turn up unique in challenges and looks very soon .
