MTV ’s RuPaul ’s Drag Race Season 17 makeover challenge bring parents into the " werk way " for a drag makeover by their fry - our queens !
MTV’sRuPaul ’s Drag Raceis near the finish line , but before we ’re at the finale , the makeover challenge is here . Emotions are high this week as the queens have their parents walk into the werkroom for fabulous retarding force makeover . The project ? Drag family resemblance , of course of study .
Sam Starand her mama , Sassy Star , absolutely crush the rails this week . They gave a reveal ; Sam permit her mama have the spotlight , and of course , the resemblance and mental attitude were 100 % there . They were the ended package , and they gave me life . It was also heartwarming and so endearing to hear her lecture about how she realise it out to Sam ’s shows at least once every weekend , and it finger like she ’s everyone ’s mammy . In the South , especially among the spiritual bunch , a lot of parent are hard - pressed to go to bars and/or assume their queer kids , so assure such a wholesome mom at the bar being supportive is healing to a bunch of people , and she ’s doing the Lord ’s work being everyone ’s momma . You go , Mama Star !
Suzie Tootand her momQueenie Toot(who ’s veridical maiden name is … Susan Toot ! ) did so wonderfully this week , it ’s so wholesome to see Suzie get a buyback edit and have the other girls see a softer side to her . Meeting her mama and seeing the dynamic there explain a lot , and it was nice to get to see that . Their black and ashen quondam cartoon Betty Boop manner runway this week was très chic and hand the nipper ( and judge ) life .
Lexi Loveand her mom , Mimi Lovely , are heal all the trans kids who have broken relationships with their parent , and it ’s super affirming . Their facial expression on the rails were adorable and lovemaking - themed , ala Valentine ’s Day boudoir , and they bump off . The judges did point out the lack of family resemblance and position , but it was n’t anything major , as Lexi was assuredly secure this week .
Onya Nurveand her dad , Nunya Bidness , fetch the attitude and ( according to Law Roach ) the trade , but that ’s about it this calendar week . It ’s pretty clean she did n’t really have much educate for makeover week , and it was pretty far outside the kingdom of her normal puff . It ’s not surprising she was at the bottom this hebdomad , but you know they could n’t lease the front - runner with four wins go down like this .
Jewels Sparkles’dad , Salchicha Sparkles , was one - thousand percent the most into this , and it is perfectly terrific to see . The less wonderful part of this is their looks – daughter , it just ai n’t right . It reminded me ofGiGi Goode’sfur coat makeover look , but far less chic and coherent . I enquire if there was some form of a failed reveal that never made it to the track because , in the back talk sync , Jewels threw off that coat and had the most sickening lingerie on , along with inch under that pussycat wig .
Overall , this week felt more like an emotional catharsis for viewer , between find out different parental kinetics and the struggles their relationships have overcome . fortunately , we ’re all dispense with the injury of watch a queen eliminated in front of her parent and it ’s a two-fold shantay with Onya and Jewels both winning the backtalk sync .
Next workweek ’s instalment is theRuPaul ’s Drag RaceLive Vegas episode , and RuPaul states that " at least one " queen will go home . At least ? After this hebdomad ’s double shanty and non - excreting , it only makes common sense that we could see a double chassé reasoning by elimination , but the top five queens are so strong — the only one I can see not advancing to the finale is Jewels , and even then , she ’s proved she ’s a fierce contender .
