RuPaul ’s Drag Race Season 17 returns with the 2nd half of the annual talent show , showcasing our remaining queen ' various " talents . "
RuPaul ’s Drag Raceseason 17premiered last weekwith the first part of the annual Drag Queen ’s Got Talent show , go out 7 queens showcase their talents and be blackleg by the other queen via pace - a - queen . Now it ’s metre for the rest of the queens to show us what they ’ve bugger off , and it was … whelming . Here ’s the tea leaf on who did what :
Crystal Envy – I ’ve already forgotten who she is and what she did for her talent . I bang it ’s a lip sync to an original song , but I literally ca n’t recall anything else about it , and tbh I ’m just not certain her style is for me . I dislike the full term filler queen , but she just experience generic and kinda forgettable . Something about it just feels see , like we saw this a decade ago and then have not stopped seeing it since . EvenJanstood out more in her time of year than Crystal Envy is right now .
Hormona Lisa – Girl , no . Unless your name isBianca Del Rio , stand up - up comedy is not your talent – and you well believe she ’s not even psychotic enough to do bear - up for her gift ; she would speed tailor-make a dress!Can we please be done with her glee at every second in the werk room as well ? " I have a friend who ’s relate to Dolly Parton . You ca n’t vote me bottom , because Ru personally chose me to be here and that ’s disesteem Ru . " I ’m so over the entitlement and her run her oral cavity – she already has the villain edit , yes , but I in person have to wonder if possibly she ’s just this vexatious daughter . At least in the past , the " scoundrel " of the season actually had the talent to justify them being throw away . Thank u , next .
Kori King — Lip sync and an original Song dynasty — how original . To be fair , though , leave it to the Boston pouf to make loving iced coffee her thing . natural endowment number aside , I am living for her confessional . She ’s giving realness and shade , and I ’m here for it .
Lana Ja’Rae – Luxx Noir London is your puff female parent ; we get it . No need to write and perform a song about it , but here we are . She ’s open Luxx , she ’s giving Jaida Essence Hall , she ’s giving….seen it before . Not to say I ’m bored with her , but it feels like we ’ve seen it before , even though I ’m enjoy it no matter how many times I see it . Side note : her " Is it bar " runway look was gaggy , and I ’m still here for it .
Lexi Love – Another sass sync to an original song ? usually , I would roll my eyes , but she tucker out me to it , and this b*tch literally roll in and performed her telephone number roller disco style ( Robbie Turner , that you ? ) . Okay , I ’m in , Miss Love , and not just because she bring home the bacon the hebdomad . I could do slenderly less with everyone treat her like she ’s ancient , though – she is 33 ; I get puff yr are like dog years , but come ON .
Onya Nurve – Original vocal ? Check . sass sync ? Check . strike ? You betcha . Am I tire ? Unbelievably . Nothing against her ; it was a tricky hook ; it just sense like a " talent show " falls unconditional when literally everyone shows up with a song perfectly mixed and crafted to introduce themselves in some catchy agency that they can habituate to trade merch ( burger fingers , anyone ? ) . At least if it were n’t masquerading as a talent show and the main challenge was " you were task with bringing an original number , show us who you are , " it would be at least a little mo well , but as it is now , it feel like the queens who step outside the lip sync format with something original are ranked low because of it .
Sam Star – It ’s another brim sync to an original song , this prison term with rural area flavor ! Have your " Hannah Montana " moment ; it ’s cute , though not the most abide - out or amazing thing . It ’s enough to be safe , but I bonk her personality and rails looks , which is enough to make me not hate her talent this calendar week .
I am begging queen at this point to please be original . The track had far too many Marie Antoinette look . Yes , the paper is cake , but please do more than just a campy cake - theme costume with your pillage out . Even the more originative tone seemed a little off for the composition or just lacklustre . perchance it was just a hard report for the world-beater , but it seemed like a throwaway runway this week .
Last hebdomad ’s bottomAcacia Forgotwent against Hormona Lisa for thebottom two lip sync(to Ari ’s iconic " Yes , and ? " ) , and it was clear Miss Hormona Lisa is a little out of her astuteness , so naturally , Acacia won . But wait , there ’s more ! This season ’s twist is lastly reveal : before the eliminated poove stand 10 lever – eight do nothing , and the queen is sent home , but two trigger the Badonka Dunk and knock off Michelle Visage into the dunk tank , meaning the queen is safe to slay another daytime after all .
In the domain ’s most " this feels rigged " moment ever , Hormona Lisa commit one of the two wizardly levers , ship Michelle to a splashdown , and we have a total non - evacuation in this episode . I have no estimate what deity is to blame for this event , but I am not living . Nobody wants a repetition of how dumb season 14 feel , but at least next week is a design challenge , which is the bread and butter of RuPaul ’s Drag Race . I ’m sure things will pick up and get mussy with not only the charge per unit - a - queen mole rat termination being revealed , but everyone being annoyed that Hormona Lisa is STILL HERE and triumph about Ru in person have a go at it her so much . young woman , get over yourself – everyone else is already over you .
