Set in the same universe as the original series , the spinoff foreground Amell ’s Ted Black , a former federal prosecutor from New York who has reinvent himself – and now represents some of the most powerful customer in Los Angeles . Black ’s business firm is at a crisis point , and so as to survive , he must espouse a role he held in contempt his intact life history .
