Bleeding Cool : You spend so much of your career play Alaric in The Vampire Diaries franchise , and Julie has an eye to the futurity with it . Are you in the loop as far as where she might take it next ?
I have n’t tattle to Julie about that , but the last time I talked to her , I mean , I ’ve always joked with Julie about how there ask to be a ' Vampire Diaries ' movie . We were doing a fan formula a year or so ago and I made a antic about like , " Hey , when ’s that motion picture proceed to come out ? " She get a small awkward . She ’s like , " Well , I guess I could tell you that we ’re in the work , maybe build up something like that . " take heed , I do n’t sleep with how lawful that is or how real it is . I do n’t screw what she may have in creative thinker for the concept of the show . but whatever she chooses to do , I know it ’s go to be great .
Do you have a pet memory of the enfranchisement ?
Oh my gosh , it ’s such a braggart part of my life and spans such a long point of clip . We started shooting that in 2009 , and then I wrapped ' Legacies ' in 2022 . I played that quality throughout 11 - 12 dissimilar season over 13 year , and there ’s just been so much living . We have so many beautiful moments – so many tragical moments . ups and downs , turn and round , and sharing this very specific moment in sentence with all these wonderful actors on this incredible show that ’s had such an wallop is too much to even process .
I ’m still processing it to be quite honest , but it was the once - in - a - life-time opportunity and experience . It saw me through some interesting time in my own life , through my 30s into my 40s . It make up a wide reach of emotions and life experiences I ’m finally thankful for because it ’s brought me to where I ’m at – the point in my life story now – and I do n’t know that I ’ve been happy .
