CBR readers had a poll . Who is The Jackal ? The results were divided .
Back in October , Marvel SVP – Marketing , David Gabriel , made a presentation to retailers at MCM London Comic Con .
He promised that inClone Conspiracy#3 , main cloning scientist The Jackal would make a tantalising offering to Peter Parker that we do n’t know if he ’ll desire to turn down and for buff of the Clone Saga , we are to expect a reveal to " really crock up the Spider - Verse in one-half " .
There was of course one popular possibility as to what that may be .
With writerDan Slottand Spider - Man editorNick Loweat one particular convention control board exclaiming to each other , " We could never lend Uncle Ben back ! That would be crazy ! Fans would kill us ! "
Today it all comes out . And initial reaction from readers may be backing that up . We have understand in alternative universes that Peter Parker has been cultivate with cloning scientist Miles Warren and is partially responsible for the clone zombie plagues that destruct worlds .
But on Marvel ’s Prime Earth , Spider - Man is still choke toe - to - toe with the Jackal . But who is he … ?

Ben Reilly . The Scarlet Spider .
The character was originally enter in the seventy as a ringer of Spider - Man . He died and his soundbox was disposed of .
Except that was then retconned away . We were told that the clone Spider - Man was in reality the real Spider - Man and survive , taking the name Ben Reilly , expire his hair light-haired and live his own life and becoming the Scarlet Spider . And the stories of Spider - Man told since then were in reality of the knockoff .
And then it was revealed that , no , Ben Reilly was the genuine clone after all , when lector chemical reaction against that braid was so substantial . And then he died .
Like that .
Now , in The Clone Conspiracy , The Jackal has devolve , has been bringing back cardinal Spider - persona from the all in as part of a new society hump as the New U , and is not Professor Miles Warren any longer ,
And all that rag from previously has also born out …
